From giant mango halo-halo to mango mukbang challenge, The Mactan Newtown is serving up fresh, fun, and exciting new events!
This summer, The Mactan Newtown comes alive for Cebu Mangoes Festival 2025 — a month-long celebration of the island’s iconic fruit. From May 16 to June 8, enjoy mango-filled feasts, vibrant parades, and festive moments that highlight culture, community, and Filipino pride.
“We’re proud to shine a spotlight on our local communities through food, culture, and creativity. This festival is a heartfelt celebration of Cebu’s mango legacy and the people who keep it thriving,” says Malou Kuinisala, General Manager of Mactan Alfresco.
Here are five all-new activities to watch out for this year!
Festival Kick-Off Parade & Giant Mango Halo-Halo
The festival kicks off on May 22 with a grand street parade filled with music, mango-themed floats, and dancers — culminating in the unveiling of a Giant Mango Halo-Halo, created in partnership with Alaska and shared with the local community.
The Giant Mango Halo-Halo features 200 kilograms of sliced mangoes blended with tropical fruits, shaved ice, and creamy evaporated milk.
Mango Culinary Showdown & Chef Tatung’s Live Cooking Demo
On May 23, culinary and hospitality students compete in creating inventive mango desserts, showcasing the versatility of Cebu mangoes through refined pastry craft and youthful innovation. Similarly, on May 24, budding chefs take center stage as they reimagine savory mango dishes, this time followed by a live cooking demonstration by celebrated Filipino chef and restaurateur Myke “Tatung” Sarthou.
Beloved culinary icon Chef Myke ‘Tatung’ Sarthou will showcase his expertise in a live cooking demo featuring sweet & savory creations.
Cebu Mangoes Festival Queen Pageant 2025
Also on May 24, The Mactan Newtown will crown the Cebu Mangoes Festival Queen — a celebration of beauty, heritage, and culture. As the official muse of the festival, she will embody and promote Mactan’s rich mango legacy and cultural pride.
Mango Seed Planting Ceremony & Mango Eating Contest
On May 25, the focus turns to sustainability and fun with a Mango Seed Planting Ceremony in partnership with the Department of Agriculture.
This will be followed by a lively mango eating competition. Guests can participate in the competition by presenting a minimum purchase of P1,500 from any establishment within The Mactan Newtown from May 16 to 25, 2025. The winner will enjoy a staycation for four at Savoy Hotel Mactan.
Every weekend – Jodie Mango Mascot Meet & Greet
Families can enjoy interactive meet-and-greets with the lovable Jodie Mango mascot at Mactan Alfresco from 3 PM to 5 PM — perfect for little mango lovers!
Here are more activities to look forward to at the Cebu Mangoes Festival 2025:
From May 16 to June 8, explore the Cebu Mangoes Food Festival, featuring fresh harvests and mango-inspired products from local farmers and artisans. Over 20 merchants will be at Mactan Newtown Road 4 from May 16 to June 1, in partnership with JRL Events, while 15 more will set up at Mactan Alfresco from May 20 to June 8, with support from the Department of Agriculture and DTI.
Shoppers who spend at least ₱2,000 from May 16 to 31 can join the Great Mango Harvest Promo, where 100 winners will get to handpick fresh mangoes on May 31, complete with harvesting kits and guides. That same day, guests can indulge in MangoCoBana, a curated tasting of mango-infused dishes by chefs from Belmont and Savoy Hotels. And on June 1, don’t miss the adorable Pets in Mango-Inspired Costumes event at Mactan Newtown Road, starting at 4 PM.
Savoy Hotel Mactan is offering a tropical mango-inspired feast, which includes Mango, Coconut, and Banana Halo-halo, Ceviche de Mactan, and more.
